COVID-19 RESPONSE
VIP FITNESS & LIFESTYLE COVID SAFETY PLAN
The health and safety of our community is at the cornerstone of everything we do. We pride ourselves on leading the industry in communicable disease prevention and the rigurous delivery of our COVID safety protocols. We have a proven safety track record, with zero rate of transmission in our facility since the start of the pandemic.
Using the guidance of Worksafe BC Communicable disease prevention, VIP Fitness & Lifestyle has developed a robust safety plan, which we continuously adapt and evolve based on the recommendation of our provincial health officers.
The following steps are being taken at VIP Fitness & Lifestyle Safety to keep you safe:
✓ Hand sanitization & daily health screening as condition of entry for all clients and staff
✓ All sessions booked by appointment only (no drop ins)
✓ Private designated workout areas, with a full sanitization of equipment between each client (no sharing of equipment between clients)
✓ Ability to maintain physical distancing between clients (2 M at all times)
✓ Reduced capacity & adherence to occupancy limit
✓ One way flow of traffic for entering & exiting
✓ Contactless Check In & Transactions (front desk includes plexi glass barrier between client & reception)
✓ Heightened cleaning protocols & high touch surface disinfecting
✓ Contactless delivery of classes
✓ Maximize time between class schedule to allow for full sanitization of the space/equipment and no cross over between groups
For your safety, VIP Fitness & Lifestyle has identified 5 main areas for consideration in our safety plan:
FACILITY OPERATIONS
-Please arrive on time for your sessions and avoid coming early to minimize your time in the space. Guests will be invited to wait outside and maintain physical distancing from other clients
-Clients are asked to help themselves to hand sanitizer station on entry
-Pre registration required for all sessions so we can maintain reduced capacity levels at all times (no drop ins accepted)
-Reduced capacity in the gym and all of our group fitness classes
-Private workout stations are clearly marked with tape and separated by stanchions. We have marked pathways inside the facility, directing one way flow of traffic. Signs are posted clearly throughout the facility with our protocols and there is a sanitization station at each workout area
-Stations and equipment are fully sanitized between each use and there is no moving between stations or sharing of equipment
-For group fitness, clients are directed to fill up the spaces closest to the back of the room first, to minimize any cross- over between clients and maintain a one way flow of traffic. At the end of class, wait for the directions of your class instructor/trainer and exit the room from front stations to back stations and maintain a one way flow of traffic to exit. All doors will be propped open for entry and exit so you will have a contactless experience
-Trainers/Instructors/Staff are masked at all times
-Masks mandatory for clients entering, exiting, and in all common areas . Masks may only be removed once in your private workout station, while actively engaging in exercise
-Implementation of ventilation systems, engineered for our business occupancy to optimize fresh air intake and exhaust
VIP Fitness & Lifestyle will post the following posters in visible spaces at our facility:
-Hand-washing poster (more detailed)
- Daily Health Checklist/Screening for condition of entry
- Physical distancing (At entrance and in other spaces)
- Entry check for visitors (at Entrance)
-Occupancy limit poster (in each applicable space)
- Restricted Staff Only Areas
- Cover for coughs and sneezes
CLEANING & PERSONAL HYGIENE
-Our cleaning products have been approved by Health Canada to disinfect for Sars-Cov-2, the virus that causes COVID-19
-Clients are asked to self sanitize equipment within their stations before and after each use (individual sanitization, spray bottles and paper towel are provided for each station.)
-Staff ensure equipment is disinfected between each client and are required to wash hands between each appointment
-Entrance, exit, gym lobby, and other high touch-point areas (e.g. door handles, front desk, spray bottles etc.) are disinfected hourly throughout the day
-In addition to daily cleaning protocols, a full and thorough clean of the space happens at the end of the day after all staff and clients have left. A cleaning log to track cleaning protocols has been implemented and duties include sanitizing all surfaces that were contacted (mats, floors, counters, light switches mirrors, desks etc.)
-Shared gym tools (ie. stereo, tablets, iPads, computer, phone etc.) are sanitized between each user
- Sanitization stations are provided upon entry to the gym, and at each station
-Staff will be at the entrance to ensure the client’s hands are sanitized before they enter the gym
-All participants should arrive dressed for their class/session and only bring what they need in a marked bag (e.g. full water bottle, hand sanitizer, yoga mat, socks, gloves, tape, etc.).
-Sharing of personal items including (but not limited to) food and beverages (e.g. water bottles) is forbidden
-Individuals and staff must stay home if they are unwell or if someone in their household is sick, even if the symptoms are mild. They must also stay home if they have knowingly been exposed to someone who is sick
STAFF TRAINING/PROTOCOLS
Formal and ongoing staff training at VIP Fitness & Lifestyle will be provided to staff to address the COVID-19 Safety Plan and programming modifications.
Requirements from the VIP Fitness & Lifestyle Restart Plan Include:
-Train staff and instructors, continually review protocols so they understand the facilities’ communicable disease Safety Plan. Clearly identify their responsibilities in maintaining gym protocols
-Clients must be made aware of the gym’s new safety protocols and their responsibility in maintaining their health, and the health of others
-Proper hand washing must be frequent throughout the day, and at a minimum, after each rotation of clients/classes
- Staff are empowered to ensure physical distancing measures and cleaning protocols are being adhered to in all spaces
-According to WorkSafeBC, staff have a right to refuse to work in unsafe conditions. Staff and supervisors are prepared to respond to such concerns
-Staff /Trainers/ Instructors and clients must read and agree to VIP Fitness & Lifestyles’ safety plan as a condition of entry
-VIP Fitness & Lifestyle has implemented policies to support staff who have symptoms of a communicable disease (e.g., fever or chills, coughing, diarrhea), so they avoid being at the workplace when sick. There is a clear and easy communication process for finding replacement for work shifts or classes being taught
COMMUNICATION
VIP Fitness & Lifestyle will inform members of the new protocols before their first visit to the gym, to foster confidence in the staff’s commitment to keep everyone safe. This will include information on facility including:
-Waivers (Release and liability Waiver)
-Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire
-Daity Health Checks/ Screening protocols (Temperature Checks, Vaccine Verification)
-Illness Policy (clients are asked to stay home/reschedule with any sign of illness)
-Personal hygiene requirements
-Physical distancing requirements outside and inside the facility
-Cleaning protocols
-Programming changes (e.g. limitations on number of people permitted inside of the facility at once, policies regarding masks, etc.)
-VIP Fitness & Lifestyle will post various resources and posters provided by the BC Centre for Disease Control (CDC) and WorkSafe BC our website, facility entrance, and in prominent places throughout the gym.
OUTBREAK RESPONSE
Early detection of symptoms will facilitate the immediate implementation of effective control measures. In addition, the early detection and immediate implementation of enhanced cleaning measures are two of the most important factors in limiting the size and length of an outbreak. An “outbreak” is two or more cases; a “case” is a single case of COVID-19.
VIP Fitness & Lifestyle will immediately modify, restrict, postpone or cancel any or all club activities as necessary
If staff or a participant reports they are suspected or confirmed to have COVID-19 and have been at the workplace/activity place, VIP Fitness & Lifestyle will implement enhanced cleaning measures to reduce risk of transmission
Individuals will be instructed to:
-Self-isolate
-Monitor their symptoms daily, report respiratory illness and not to return to work for at least 10 days following the onset of fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat and painful swallowing, stuffy or runny nose, loss of sense of smell, headache, muscle aches, fatigue and loss of appetite
-Provide a negative test result as a condition to return to the facility
In the event of a suspected case or outbreak of influenza-like-illness, VIP Fitness & Lifestyle will immediately report and discuss the suspected outbreak with the Medical Health Officer (or delegate) at our local health authority (Vancouver Coastal Health) and implement enhanced safety measures.
If VIP Fitness & Lifestyle is contacted by a medical health officer, in the course of contact tracing, all individuals associated with the club must cooperate with local health authorities
